We found this late night spot near the Balboa Theater in the Gaslamp district. Sultan Baklava is a family run Mediterranean restaurant that features kababs and other traditional Turkish dishes. Nothing is better than a fresh baklava and Turkish tea or Turkish Coffee if you're in need of a lite night caffeine injection. Everything that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and we'll be back to sample some of their grilled dishes. Baklava! Everyone loves Baklava and there are many different types of Baklava. We found this late night spot downtown in the heart of the Gaslamp district. They also have a full menu that includes kababs and Turkish flat breads. Everything we saw looked delicious and we'll be back to try their grilled items. If you haven't tried Turkish tea and Turkish coffee, you'll have to try it soon! Visit Sultan Baklava Mediterranean Cuisine, 770 4th Ave. San Diego www.sultanbaklava.com
These fresh Sea Urchins filled with spicy poke and shoyu poke were made by Chef Maui and his wife Jenn @ Island Life Foods. (www.ilnlyffoods.com) You can find them at various farmer's markets around San Diego. They bring authentic island foods to us mainlanders here in San Diego. These sea urchins were just caught this morning. This was the first time my friend Jean had ever had sea urchin and this one was so fresh it was still moving.
